Why are you stressed?
Have you heard the saying: You are the sum of the 5 people you spend most time with?
I believe that this is also true for when it comes to stress and how you think about time and work.
If the consensus of those people is that time is scarce, that there is never enough time, that time flies…. etc. Then you are likely to say and think the same.
If the consensus of those people is that working long hours and being stressed is normal, then you are likely to think and do the same.
As we are social beings, it can be hard to exit those believes and create new ones.
In this episode, I share with you:
- Why it’s important to become aware of the takes on work, stress and time of your surroundings
- How you can come to find your own believes
- How you can contribute to a more positive mindset in the groups you are in
My advice is:
- Listen to how people around you talk about work
- Reflect on your reaction, the thoughts that come automatically after hearing such things
- Is that how you want to think about work?
- How would you like to look at work instead?
- Try not to contribute to such conversations or even steer them into another direction
- Try small Time Management hacks, like Working in Units
- The effects those small changes will have, will help you shift your believes
- Ultimately, you might be able to contribute to a different culture, where stress is not the norm.
